Location and Setting

The location and setting of "Intruder" will be filmed at my house.
Which is a modern, new build, 3 bedroom, family home, on a new estate.

As our film is set in a family home, we thought this would be a good location to film in.
The main rooms we will be filming in are:

 - The top of the stairs (Landing)

- The living room

-Bottom of the stairs

-The kitchen

Planning for our Film- Actors

 Planning - Actors

Our First Actor- The Mother
Played By: Susi Cracroft
Aged: between 30-40
Susi is playing a stereotypical mum,
concerned for her children and the home.

Second Actor- The Possesed Boy
Played By: George Marshall
Aged: between 8-10
George is playing the young boy who we see as the
possessed child roaming around the house at night.

The relationship between the actors:

The Relationship between the two actors is approriate as they are mother and son in real life, making it more natural on camera and more realistic to our audience making it more of a  beleivable narrative and plot.

Planning for our Film - Plot/Narrative

Our Plot/Narrative Ideas:
Our narrative starts of with a distressed mother calling the police after a series of on going nightly events leave her house in a state.
Thinking their house has been burgled the police install CCTV cameras in the home to catch the intruder.
The footage is then watched and the mother finds out the destruction is down to her 10 year old son who is possessed.

Planning for our Film - Title Ideas and Fonts

1)  Intruder:

- Chiller font
-White writing
-Bold
 - Red glow around the text.

Planning for our Film - Sound

Sound choices for our Horror/Thriller

1) Thriller (1:08) from freeplaymusic.com

This sound is a very dark and slow paced, with allot of sounds of wind in the background, and a rhymthic beat.

2) Nightprowler reprise (1:04) from freeplaymusic.com

This sound uses the piano and allot of sound effect to give a physcological feel to it, this is very slow and builds up to a loud noise at the end.

3) The Haunting (2:01) from freeplaymusic.com

First 20-40 seconds of this sound is effective and is like something is getting closer to you by using a rhythmic beat, after that the percussion picks up.

4) Resentment (0:44) from freeplaymusic.com
This is my top choice of the sounds we have found, as voices are used by whipsering to create atomspheric noises and sound effects are very unsettling, this fades out at the end to a chime of a bell.

Planning for our Film - Target Audience

A representation of our target audience:

The target audience for our film is:

- Males- as males enjoy thriller/horror films more than women

- Single- as single people have more money to spend on going to see the film

- Employed- this is also because employed people have more money aswell

- Aged 15-35- as this is the age category that mostly watches films and goes to the cinema frequently also our age certificate is 15.

Planning for our Film- Our Title

The title of our film is "Intruder"

Defintion of the word Intruder: "a person who enters a building, grounds, etc., without permission"

Our film is set in a family home, which is considered a safe place, and being intruded in your own home makes the audience feel unsafe and uneasy as they should feel safe.

The connotations of our title, are:

 - Unwanted
 - Unsafe
 - Burgulars
 - Infiltrators
 - Danger
 - Tresspasser
 - Invader
 - Criminal

Planning for our Film - Shot Lists

Shot List

- Camera pan, allong the police tape outside the house.

- Close up shot, of the police siren lights on.

- Close up shot, of the police statement book writing down the names.

- Over the shoulder, mid-shot, of the police interview
between the officer and mother.

- High angled shot, of the living room.

- High angled shot, of the kitchen.

- High angled shot, at the top of stairs, showing the landing.

Low angle shot, at the bottom of the stairs looking up the stairs.

- Over the shoulder, mid-shot of the police interview between officer and mother.

Planning for our Film - Storyboards

Our first Storyboard for Intruder:

Shot 1:
Shot 1 shows our production company name appearing, with a static effect and non-diegetic sound effect.

Shot 2:
Shot 2 is a panning camera allong an extreme close-up of "police line, do not cross" tape, outside the house. This is when our non diegetic sound of a 999 call is playing in the background.

Shot 3:
Shot 3 is the same as Shot 2 but instead of the "Police line do not cross" we will have some of our title sequence names appear on the tape, This will also have the non diegetic sound of a 99 call in the background.

Shot 4:
Shot 4 is of a Police light on the top of a police car, as the blue and white lights spin the title sequence names will apear on the screen as part of the light. At this point the non-diegetic sound of the 999 call will begin to fade out and end.

Shot 5:
Shot 5 is of a police statement book, which a officer is filling out the name of our actors will apear in the statement as part of the title sequence, our digectic sound will be the start of the police interview between the mother and officer, this shot will then fade out.

Shot 6:
Shot six is a 180 degree rule shot, using a conversation between the mother and officer, the diegetic sound of the conversation is heard, this will then jump cut to shot 7.

Shot 7:
Shot 7 uses a split screen editing effect with 4 diffrent cameras around the house all recording, the boy walking down the stairs.

Preliminary Task

The Task:
The task was to film, and edit a peice of footage showing a range of shot types and other filming and editing skills. Our preliminary task had to include:

-Good continuity
-Shot Reverse Shot
-Match On Action
-180 degree rule

What went well?

Overall our priliminary task went well, and we used the range of shot types and good editing to achieve a continous 30 seconds of footage of a conversation, from my feedback i have shown i can use match on action, the shot reverse shot and 180 degree rule whilst two people are having a conversation, i have good tight editing and good continuity with footage and sound aswell.

What to improve?

From my feedback i found out my editing could have been tighter and the close up shot on the door should of been cut earlier, because of the slight pause before the door was opened, it slows it down.

Premiere Magazine Front Cover

Premiere Magazine Front Cover
  • Premiere as a Masthead- red, bold, and white glow, white spotlights.
I chose the name "Premiere" as it suggests being first. Our magazine is first for the readers to know about the latest films. and upcoming films aswell.
I put the masthead in the spotlights as this shows the masthead is important and eye-catching to readers.

I added a white glow to make it look 3D.

  • Tagline- Straight from the red carpet, to you! This shows all the film news is first hand and straight to the audience. The words "to you!" are aimed directly to the reader, making it adressed to them.

  • Target Audience-
The magazine is mainly aimed at young adults to adults, and men usually in jobs; as going to see films can be expensive.

  • Main Image-
The main image of the front cover, is me and Sam. I chose to photoshop a cinema in the background as it fitted with the film and premiere theme. We both chose to sit in a pose that looked like we were watching a film.
Next to the main image, are smaller images of other films we made up these have shocking images to represent the movies. Making the reader want to read more or watch the films.
The strapline "Top reviews with Sam and Charlie" shows that the reviews are recent and they should be trusted by the reader.

  • Colours-
Red, Black, White, Gold. I chose to use the colours red and white as they connote film premieres and class. Also the contrast between the black background which appeals to the male audience and the red and white writing, is eye catching and makes the front cover interesting to our target audience.

  • Other-
Price: I decided that the price of £2.50 was an average price, as i researched popular monthly magazines and how much they charge. Th.is was in the price range of between £2.00 and £4.00, so my price was acceptable for what i was offering
Other Images: I chose to use a range of images to connote films like the cinema ticket this was used to give a refrence to there being an exclusive review in the magazine and makes the audience feel drawn in to read more. The star is used to also draw the reader in as inside the star is a stars name, this suggests they are inportant. The directors chair is showing the reader we have exclusive interviews within the magazine as it looks like we have met the director being interviewed. This also adds to the exclusivness of the magazine in genral.
