Film Industry Independent research

Roles of a producer:
  • Finds idea for the film
  • Writes the script
  • Finds cost
  • Finds director
  • Raises the money for the film
  • See's the film through to distribution
  • Keeps the creative and business sides of the film together.
The idea and Script
  • Needs to be a well told story
  • Starts with a big idea
  • Script is a guidline for director to improve
  • Has to have a start, middle and ending
The Package:
  • Producer and director need to plan cast and team
  • The package is the idea and the script, the producer, director, the budget, and the cast and team.
  • Team has to be strong and get on well.
Investment:
  • If filmed in a certain region, film company goto regional fundings.
  • Co-production get other investors and share the film
  • Easier to have a financer, they are incontrol.
  • Have mulitple partners who have invested smaller amounts, this means the main funder is incontrol.
  • Goto the foreign film producers eg. Pixar Films
  • National Lottery funding helps film companys.
Distribution:
  • Bring the films to cinemas and market
  • Every film will have a release date
  • Promote the film to as many people as possible
  • Big Hollywood Studios

Working Title

Working Title Film




Working Title Film production company was founded in 1983 by Tim Bevan and Sarah Radclyffe, and is now based in London and co-owned by Eric Fellner and Bevan. The company started by producing Low budget feature films and some telelvision programmes. They made global box office success from the
Hugh Grant film "Four weddings and a funeral" (1994) . Also they produce romantic comedy films from Richard-curtis which mainly star Hugh Grant, likedefinatly maybe,  but recently they have moved on todo other types of films like "United 93".

Initial Idea:
The idea for the film “Senna” was based on the life and tragic death of the famous Formula One champion called Aryton Senna. How he died in the San Marino Grand Prix, in Italy aged 34.
